COASTAL Restoration

Conservation Alabama Foundation is working as part of a coalition of environmental organizations, individuals, and businesses to restore the Alabama Gulf Coast’s environment, economy, and communities in the wake of the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill. As funds from legal settlements and penalties start to flow to Alabama, we are advocating that the money be spent on projects that will protect and preserve our natural environment, which is the foundation of the coastal region’s economy.

The Environmental Law Institute's Ocean Program has been tracking the complex network of settlements and funding programs, and provides helpful explanations that are easy to understand. Visit ELI's website for more information on the Natural Resource Damage Assessment, the RESTORE Act penalties, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation funding.
